THE MAKING OF

We provide a behind the scenes insight of our Bassleader 2009 project. The site features a combination of interactive locations mixed with audio, video and 3D transitions. Below you can see some snapshots of the design process.

LOCATION DESIGN

One of the first tasks was to design the different locations is the Bassleader city. We quickly decided that we would design everything in 2D (Photoshop) and then use the technique of 3D projection to create smooth transitions. The locations where designed using a combination of traditional Photoshop collage techniques and digital matte painting techniques.

INTERFACE DESIGN

Keeping usability in mind, designing a good interface and content areas is crucial upon the general success of the project.

3D MODELING, ANIMATION AND CAMERA MAPPING

We modeled a full cityscape for the opening scene. The inner city locations where all transformed into a 3D projection (or camera mapping) to create smooth transitions. The basic idea of 3D projection is placing 2D designs into a 3D area using planes and basic shapes.
